This policy covers the Carssie apps for iPhone and Android. Almost everything is the same on both; where it is not, it is marked iOS or Android. Features that do not yet exist on one platform are called out explicitly: we do not collect data for something the app does not yet do.
1. Who we are
Carssie is an app developed by MNZN, LLC (“MNZN”, “we”). For anything related to this policy or your data, contact us at development@mycoderai.app.
Carssie is an independent app to view and control OMODA and JAECOO vehicles. Carssie is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by OMODA, JAECOO or Chery; it uses the manufacturer’s official telematics services on your behalf.
2. What data we process
Manufacturer account. You enter your OMODA/JAECOO account credentials to link your car; they are used to authenticate you against Chery’s services and keep the session.
Vehicle data. Battery level and status, range, charging and refuelling, tyre pressure, door and window state, mileage and vehicle location. These build your trip, charging and refuelling history.
Location. Your vehicle’s location, to show it on the map. If you grant location permission, your device location may be used to centre the map; it is not stored on our servers.
Notifications.iOS: a push notification token to send you alerts (charge complete, car left unlocked, low tyre pressure, alarm). Android: push alerts are not available yet, so no token is generated or stored. We will update this policy before enabling them.
Subscription.iOS: if you buy Carssie Plus, Apple processes the payment; we do not see or store your payment method. We keep the transaction identifier and subscription status to grant you access. Android: the app does not offer purchases yet; when it does, Google Play will process the payment on the same terms.
Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes, or an operation fails, we send PostHog a report with the stack trace, your device model and OS version, the app version and an installation identifier. Every report goes through a filter that strips credentials and email addresses before it leaves the device. It is used to fix the fault and nothing else.
Usage analytics. We measure which screens you open and a handful of specific actions —requesting an email code, sending a command to the car, changing your quick actions, buying or restoring the subscription—, along with the kind of action, never its contents. If you are signed in, those records are tied to your account's internal identifier, so that one person with two devices can be told apart from two different people. The provider is PostHog. There is no advertising and no profiling.
Preferences. Units, kWh price and alert preferences. Your control PIN never leaves your phone: on iOS it is stored encrypted in the Keychain behind Face ID/Touch ID, and on Android in an encrypted store keyed by the device Keystore, behind your fingerprint, face or screen lock.
Data kept on your phone. So the app can show something without connectivity, we store the latest vehicle readings, its last known location and the log of commands sent on the device itself. They are deleted when you sign out.
Permissions the Android app requests: network access, biometrics to protect the PIN, and approximate and precise location —the latter only if you grant it— to centre the map on you. The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts or storage.
3. Why we use it and legal basis
Providing the service —showing your car’s status, sending commands and building history—: performance of the contract.
Sending push alerts (iOS): your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
Managing your subscription: performance of the contract.
Diagnosing app crashes: legitimate interest in keeping the app working.
Usage analytics: legitimate interest in understanding what is used and what gets stuck, in order to improve the app. You can object by writing to us.
Security and abuse prevention: legitimate interest.
4. Who we share it with
Chery / OMODA / JAECOO: the vehicle’s official telematics provider. Your car data comes from and is sent to their systems; Carssie acts as a client on your behalf.
Apple (iOS): App Store, push notifications (APNs) and payment/subscription handling.
Google (Android): Google Play for distribution and, once they exist, payments; and Google Maps to draw the map, which receives the location shown on it.
PostHog (iOS and Android): crash reports and usage analytics. Data is processed in their European region.
Supabase: infrastructure provider hosting our backend (database and functions), where the session, recent telemetry, entitlements and notification tokens are stored.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. MNZN, LLC is a US company; some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under appropriate safeguards.
5. Retention
We keep data while you use the app. Signing out clears local data from your device. You can request deletion of your server-side data at any time.
6. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise them, email development@mycoderai.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
7. Security
We encrypt communications (HTTPS) and the PIN is stored behind a biometric check: in the Keychain on iOS and in a store encrypted with a device Keystore key on Android. That key never leaves the phone, so a backup restored on another device could not decrypt it. Even so, no system is completely infallible.
8. Children
Carssie is not directed to children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; the new version will be posted on this page with its date.
